Holders face difficult semi-final

by isleofman.com 3rd March 2006
HSBC F.A. Cup holders St. George's face a hard task to make it through to this year's Easter Monday Final at The Bowl. Laxey will be the visitors to Glencrutchery Road on Saturday 16th March. The Miners beat Geordies in Boxing Day's Railway Cup Final, and won 1-0 at the ground in the league thanks to a Rob Sorby strike. Indeed, Laxey remain unbeaten this season and are favourites to wrap up their first ever Division One title. The "Grand Slam" is still a possibility. The other semi-final sees Division Two representatives Pulrose rewarded for their efforts with a home tie against Peel. Peel were made to work hard by Old Boys in the Quarter-Finals. The westerners won through on penalties thanks to two saves from Kelvin Dawson. Pully have had a great run of results since the turn of the year, and may fancy their chances of an upset appearance in the Final.
