Laxey’s sea defences will be under the spotlight at a meeting on Monday.

Garff MHKs Martyn Perkins and Daphne Caine are hosting the public meet at The Pavillion in Laxey Glen at 7.30pm.

It follows the response from local residents to the Department of Infrastructure’s revised plans to construct a wall along part of the promenade and Laxey Harbour.

Mr Perkins explained: “We have called the meeting to elicit the view of Laxey residents, to make sure they are well informed and so that we can provide a true reflection to the Department of local residents’ views on its proposals.

“We are hopeful a senior officer from the DoI will attend to provide further clarity on the scheme.”

Mrs Caine added: “My inbox and social media have been bombarded with responses to the DOI’s revised sea defences proposals for Laxey.

“The vast majority are opposed to the four-foot wall being built on the northern end of Laxey Promenade but many are supportive or neutral about the plans for the harbour.

“The benefit of arranging a public session is that everyone interested can make their views known both to us politicians and the department.”
