The Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce – the Island’s biggest business network – hosted its Christmas lunch at Woodbourne House in Douglas. The master of ceremonies was Chris Allen, who took over as President of Chamber in September this year. Chris thanked Chamber members and guests for attending, and the staff of Woodbourne House for their hospitality. In his speech he reflected on Chamber’s activity throughout 2017 and also gave an insight into plans for 2018.
Among the guests were Chief Minister Howard Quayle MHK, Treasury Minister Alf Cannan MHK, and Department for Enterprise Minister Laurence Skelly MHK. Minister Skelly, who was the guest speaker, spoke about the importance of Chamber’s role in the Island’s economy and business community, and explained the Department for Enterprise’s plans to develop four public/private sector agencies covering the finance, digital, business and visit sectors.
Singer and actress Alexandra Slater, 2017’s Young Actress of Mann winner, provided entertainment.
A raffle held at the Christmas lunch raised £1,250 for Junior Achievement Isle of Man.
The Christmas lunch was held on December 6th.
