The government is looking for a 'dynamic and innovative' operator to take on the Laxey Pavilion.

The building and grounds in the centre of the village has been empty for several months but is described by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture as a key element of the village.

Interested parties should submit expressions of interest before noon on September 4. Offers are being sought from experienced hospitality service providers for a five year lease.

Andrew Sidebottom of DEFA said: 'There are two lease options. One option is the lease to occupy, maintain and manage the Pavilion building which includes restaurant, ballroom and 3-bedroomed apartment accommodation. The other lease option also includes managing and formally utilising the surrounding Laxey Glen, with its gardens and wooded areas, maintaining public access and amenities.

'The importance of the public access to the glen and garden areas is a key consideration in this lease option and the Department will give preference to offers that positively support this objective.'
