Police seized cannabis worth more than £100,000 from a sailing boat in Port St Mary harbour yesterday.

A 45 year old Port Erin man and a 24 year old man from Douglas have been charged with importing drugs with intent to supply and will appear in court today. They were arrested in a joint operation by the police force and Customs.

Detective Sergeant Paul Holland said: 'Persons involved in drug importation have numerous methods of importing controlled drugs into the Isle of Man. We continue to work closely with Customs and Excise to protect our borders and to ensure the safety of the Island community.

'Again, my message to anyone that deals in drugs or is involved in bringing drugs to the Isle of Man is be prepared to get caught and spend a long time in prison.'
