A recent arrival at the Curraghs wildlife park has escaped.

The ring tailed lemur was last seen in the woods across the road from the wildlife park and could be in the Ballaugh or Sulby area. The park says it doesn't want anybody to mount a search party as this could spook the animal. Instead, if anyone spots her while out walking they should call the park on 897323.

On its facebook page, the park explains the lemur had been released into the outdoor enclosure yesterday after a period of settling in, adding: 'The next thing we knew the female was spotted at the boundary of the park, two staff tried to get her to head back into the park but she headed across the road into the woods where we lost her.'

Staff are searching the woods as they believe she might return to a keeper who is familiar to her.
