Public opposition to the toilet tax continues to grow, with a public meeting over the issue due to be held in Peel next

The local authority has confirmed that residents have called a requisition meeting, which is being organised by the Captain
of the Parish, for next Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, an online petition that was launched on January 25 in reaction to the Water and Sewerage Authority charge, has now collected more than 6,000 signatures.

The unpopular toilet tax will cost each household £50, rising to £100 next year. The WSA needs Tynwald approval for the charge, which chairman John Houghton MHK will seek at the next parliamentary sitting on February 18. At the same sitting, Douglas MHK Chris Thomas will raise objections on behalf of the protestors.

Organisers of the online petition are encouraging protestors to attend the Tynwald sitting.
