PwC Isle of Man celebrates Amy's outstanding Order of Merit success

by isleofman.com 15th May 2017

A newly-qualified accountant at PwC Isle of Man has achieved first place in the Isle of Man’s Order of Merit from the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales (ICAEW).

Amy Whitty received the recognition for the ICAEW’s Advanced Stage exams, with the Order of Merit acknowledging candidates who have scored the highest average marks in their exams to become an ICAEW chartered accountant.

Amy’s award was presented on Friday evening (May 12) at the annual dinner of the Isle of Man Society of Chartered Accountants, held at the Best Western Palace Hotel in Douglas.

Having graduated from the University of Leeds in 2007 with a Bachelor of Law, Amy was called to the Isle of Man bar in October 2011. She practised as an advocate until April 2014, when she started training to be an accountant, joining PwC Isle of Man later that year.

‘It’s a great honour to achieve first place in the Order of Merit, and I’d like to thank my colleagues at PwC Isle of Man for the support and
encouragement I’ve received during my training,’ said Amy, who has been promoted to Audit Senior Associate. ‘I look forward to the challenge of a new role, whilst working with the team to continue providing excellent services for the current and future needs of clients.’

The ICAEW chartered accountancy qualification, the ACA, is one of the most advanced learning and professional development programmes available, providing an in-depth understanding across accountancy, finance and business.

Ian Clague, Senior Partner at PwC Isle of Man, said: ‘Amy’s success is just reward for the hard work and commitment she has shown during the last three years. To top the Order of Merit is a superb achievement and we look forward to seeing her excel in her new role as a key member of the Audit team.’
