Trawler snagged by submarine draws US attention

by isleofman.com 22nd April 2015
Journalists from the New York Times have been in Ardglass to investigate a recent incident where a trawler was thought to have been snagged by a submarine.
The Down News reported that the US crew arrived yesterday (Tues 21st) to talk to skipper of the Karen, Paul Murphy, who is adamant his vessel became snagged with a submarine.
It almost capsized the vessel and caused damage estimated to be in the region of ?50,000.
No country so far has owned up to having any sub which may have been in the area.
Director of Information for the Celtic League on the Island, Bernard Moffatt, says they've campaigned against such sub activity for years.
He believes in this latest incident there may now be enough pressure to get some answers.Clip 1
