Economic Committee hears of failure of government IT system

A major failure of the government's IT system was discussed in a committee meeting this afternoon (Thurs).
The Economic Committee heard how, on November 11th, failures in the central government system caused a complete outage in 57 areas.
The Department of Social Care was highlighted as a department that was seriously affected with members unable to access appointment schedules.
Blood test results were also halted, resulting in patients waiting five days for their results.
Director of the Information Systems Division Mark Lewin says it's difficult to pinpoint a cause:
