Why so many roadworks?

The Island’s director of Highways says there’s a variety of reasons why there are so many sets of roadworks at one time.

Richard Pearson of the Department of Infrastructure says a number of areas need urgent repair work.

But with so many major schemes currently underway around the Island, isn’t it easier to tackle one stretch at a time to concentrate the department's manpower and resources?
