The Society of Graphic Fine Art has selected a work by Sayle Gallery artist Svetlana Cameron for its annual exhibition DRAW 13 at the Menier Gallery in London, from 30 September until 12 October 2013.
‘Morning Light’, a nude which was first shown in the ‘Face to Face’ exhibition at the Sayle Gallery in May 2011, captured the imagination of local singer/songwriter Christine Collister, who was inspired to write a song which later appeared on her album ‘Under Construction 11’, Christine – described as ‘one of the finest grown-up vocalists on the planet…’ by Q magazine -carries a print of the image on tour to illustrate the song to her audiences. There are just five of these limited edition prints of ‘Morning Light’ still available, and they are on sale at the Sayle Gallery.
The Society of Graphic Fine Art is the only national society in the UK dedicated exclusively to drawing. Founded in 1919, the Society promotes fine drawing skills in both traditional and contemporary media, and holds an annual exhibition which attracts entries from around the world.
“It was very exciting to have a work inspire Christine to write such a beautiful song,” says Svetlana, “but now to have ‘Morning Light’ in a national exhibition too is an unexpected honour. The Society of Graphic Fine Arts is such a prestigious organization and I look forward to ‘Morning Light’ being exhibited amongst other works selected by the Society”.
