Albany Tennis Club News

by Pat Sharp

As it is Half-term next week there will be no junior coaching from Sat 18 - all squads will re-start as from Monday 27 March.

Meanwhile we can wish Good Luck to the Isle of Man 18 & under county boys team who will be travelling next weekend in Newport, Gwent . The five boys travelling are all members of Albany and they will be accompanied by their coach, Ian Watson The team is Sean Drewry, Sasha Thomas, Jay Skelcher Maxwell, Sam Skelcher Maxwell and Jack Christian who is also a member of Ramsey TC.

A message for the parents of the Mini Tennis players who attend coaching on Saturdays - why not try having "a hit" on the outdoor courts? Club Coach Ian Watson will be organising some adult beginner/rusty racquets coaching - then you can enjoy playing with your children.  Maybe we can arrange a parent/child mini tennis competition. The full club programme for this year will be on the website shortly please take a look and put the dates in your diary.

The sale of Lounge Carpet Tiles is going well - the chart is in the club room so if you haven't had a go yet your support would be appreciated.

At our recent committee meeting it was agreed to add an additional category to room hire costs and this would be £30 for 3hrs which is a more reasonable charge for organisations wishing to hold meetings.

The IOMLTA summer league details will be announced shortly and we hope to enter four men's and two ladies teams. If any new members are interested in playing league tennis please contact our club captain Jackie Russell as she is looking for extra players.
