A political pressure group is holding a public meeting on Monday, addressing global tax transparency.
The Positive Action Group (PAG) has secured an international campaigner to address the meeting. John Christensen is a former economic advisor to the Jersey government who now travels the world as executive director of the Tax Justice Network, explaining the role of tax and the harmful impacts of tax evasion, tax avoidance and tax havens.
A spokesman for PAG said: 'For a number years, the Isle of Man has faced demands to improve tax transparency and regulation in financial services and has been recognised as largely successful in tackling that thorny dilemma.
'Although it may be controversial here, TJN's agenda remains pertinent to the Isle of Man. In 2008 John's visit created a lot of interest, especially in the financial community. We are confident that his return will attract much attention again. Everyone is welcome to attend and even get a chance to question the speaker after the presentation.'
The meeting takes place on Monday June 30 at the Manx Legion Club in Market Hill, Douglas, starting at 7.30pm. Open to all, admission is free.
