Manx Utilities has announced this afternoon that it will not consider any appeals against the so-called toilet tax.
The sewerage charge, widely regarded as unfair, is set at a fixed fee of £50 per property for this financial year. However, Manx Utilities says it will be looking at other charging options for the future.
In the meantime, all properties which receive a rate demand will be liable for the toilet tax with no appeals redress.
A spokesman for the utilities authority said: 'The Board has confirmed that it will review the proposed sewerage charge, and appeals process, and is committed to working together with Treasury to review other charging options for 2015/16. In this regard, the Board is committed to ensuring a fair charging system is applied in order to compensate for the year-on-year reduction in revenue from
Treasury, and is currently considering the options in this respect.'
