Police arrested a local man yesterday evening in connection with last Friday's robbery at RHS Jewellers.
He's been detained at police headquarters and inquiries are continuing, with police appealing for information.
Detective Sergeant Brian Shimmin said: 'Many thanks to the public who have assisted us with this matter so far but the appeal for witnesses and information remains relevant. I still would really appreciate contact from anyone who can help.'
The robbery took place at about 4pm on Friday May 9. The motorcycle used was taken from the rear of Road and Track in Tynwald Street and was later found in the service land at the back of Belmont Terrace.
Det Sergeant Shimmin said: 'Just beyond that is a an area of rough ground where a motorcycle helmet, hammer and remains of clothing, all burnt, were discovered. Beyond that location you can exit the area onto the Cinder Path onto Peel Road or through to Hillside Avenue and the old Nobles Hospital site. If you were in any of these areas last Friday and have seen any activity which may be of relevance please get in touch.'
