There are ambitious plans to develop interest in the heritage of the south of the Isle of Man, centring around Rushen.
The initiative is being led by the three Rushen MHKS, with the creation of a Heritage Trust. Now, a manager is being sought to develop the project.
The trust says it has already secured private sector funding to cover the costs of the first year of development and has a large team of volunteers it is calling HATs (Heritage Action Teams) who will organise events and pop-up museums. The aim is to open at least one permanent new heritage centre by 2020.
Advertising for a part time manager, the trust says: 'Enthusiasm for preserving, communicating and developing the local heritage is important, as is skill in managing and motivating volunteers, creating positive change, oral and verbal communication and building close relationships with national and local partners such as commissioners, trading associations and regeneration committees, MNH (Manx National Heritage) and Culture Vannin.'
