Dog owners were warned today to keep their pets on leads on Port Erin beach after a mystery substance was washed up.
The Coastguard issued the warning this morning during wet and windy weather conditions. Teams searched the beach to clear up the fatty substance which was described as lard-like lumps varying from about a foot square to pebble sized chunks.
The Coastguard said it had issued the warning to the public as a precautionary measure until the substance could be analysed.
