A former Young Dancer of Man who is supporting Island of Culture 2014 has won a prestigious award.
Ballet dancer Lloyd Mayor, 20, won Young Dancer of Man in 2009 and now performs with the world-renowned Martha Graham Dance Company in New York. Lloyd has won the Clive Barnes award that recognises the work of young actors and dancers in New York city.
The company's artistic director Janet Eilber said: 'Lloyd's progress as a dancer and an artist since he first arrived at the Graham school has been remarkable. He is lucky to be tall, handsome and have natural ability but it is his willingness to work extraordinarily hard and to put his whole heart into the work that has brought him so far so fast.'
Lloyd is an ambassador for the Isle of Man's year-long celebration of Manx culture.
