There could be further disruption to ferry services today as weather conditions deteriorate in the Irish Sea.

The Steam Packet Company says it will make a decision by 4pm about this evening’s sailing to Heysham. The Ben my Chree is scheduled to leave Douglas at 7.45pm but may have to be cancelled or postponed.

Ferry passengers have faced disruption throughout the festive holiday because of the wintry conditions. The met office is predicting strong to gale force winds for later today with heavy rain and a risk of flooding, particularly at high tide.
