Archery Report

This week saw archers tackle the Vegas round this round is shot on a three face target with each face numbered 1 to 3 and a numbered arrow is shot in that face with the scoring zone being 10 down to 6.

Gents recurve saw Tony Hartley top the table once again closely followed by Dave Moore whose seven misses were criminal to finish second and Marcus Boyd steered his way to the last step on the podium. In the ladies recurve this was a battle that took the Barbara Harris and Karen Lott in to a game level scores all the way there was no separating the girls until the last end when Harris gets one more gold to edge Lott to the runners up spot.

In the Gents compound Peter Mumford topped the table with a fantastic shoot over Colin Moore who most be ruin the miss which most of played on his concentration to finish runners up. In the ladies division Sarah Rigby just starting to get to grips with her new bow put in the highest score of the day to top the ladies closely followed by Joy Gough who had to settle for the runners up spot.

In the juniors Adam Wright put in a fantastic round to top the table from an ever improving Rhys Moore who had to settle for second this week with young Charlotte Harris mixing it with the lads to pick up the third step on the podium. Other archers opting for a Portsmouth round were Adrian Breed who had a close shoot with Rob Lott and new archer Dave Dougherty.

Congratulations to Billy Lightfoot on his forthcoming marriage to Gillian which takes place in Barbados this weekend “some excuse for missing the coaching weekend” also a nice welcome return to the shooting fold by Frank Vaughan who opted to just shoot a practice round this week also absentee this week was Dave Berry whose services were seconded by Manx Autosport for Clerk of Works duties for the Chris Kelly Memorial Stages Rally. Next weekend is the coaching weekend this is on Saturday and Sunday all-day and Monday Night Shooting has returned with 7pm for 7:30pm start these shoots are for seniors plus any juniors who are training for shoots off Island.
