Young Hearts Run Free (cert 12A) on Thursday 8th March
A special Films in Peel event will take place on Thursday 8th March, with the support of the Isle of Man Arts Council. A self-funded feature length film will be screened, written, directed and produced by young independent filmmaker from Northumberland, Andrew Simpson. The film, Young Hearts Run Free (12A), is set in 1974, during a violent miners' strike in a quiet Northern village. It is a coming-of-age story as a teenage artist meets a gorgeous new girl from London. Their relationship causes him to betray his family, community and friends. Writer-director and founder of Newcastle-based Bede Films, Andrew will be special guest at the event. He will introduce the film and lead a Q&A session at the end. A must for any young film makers on the Island who would like to find out more about producing a successful low budget movie. Tickets on sale at Celtic Gold in Peel at £4 (£3 conc) or available on the door. Reservation tickets with a seat guarantee are available from Shakti Man (Ramsey), Mostly Manx (Douglas) and Thompson Travel (Port Erin). The film starts at 7:45pm and doors open for refreshments and the bar at 7pm.
