Invitation To Register for ‘Taste’ Isle of Man 2012/13

by Department of Economic Development

ISLE OF MAN TOURISM is pleased to announce that registration for ‘Taste’ Isle of Man 2012/13 is now open and all eating establishments on the Island are encouraged to take part in the scheme.

This is the fourth year of the quality assurance scheme which was introduced to help visitors and residents choose from the diverse range of eating out options and boost consumer confidence.  The scheme is open to any type of eating out establishment from restaurants, cafes and pubs to coffee shops and take-away food outlets across the Island.

‘Taste’ Isle of Man scheme was launched in 2008 when it enrolled 17 members and now  has 45 members island-wide.   The scheme is based on a completely independent assessment taking place and provides the consumer with a clear indication of quality.  The registration fee for the scheme is £100.00 and those who achieve the accreditation will be awarded a ‘Quality Assured’ or ‘Highest Quality Assured’ sign to display outside their premises.

An additional Harvest accolade, supported by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture (DEFA), is awarded to those achieving excellence in the provision and promotion of local produce.

All successful venues are publicised in a directory of participants which is distributed at venues throughout the Island.  They are also featured on Isle of Man Tourism’s website www.visitisleofman.com/taste.

To enrol for the ‘Taste’ Isle of Man scheme contact taste@gov.im or telephone 01624 695700.  The closing date for registration is Wednesday 29th February 2012.

Geoff Corkish MBE, MHK, Political Member for the Department of Economic Development with responsibility for Tourism said:

‘Our aim is to encourage and enrol as many businesses as possible into the scheme to continue the growing provision of outstanding quality and service whilst, at the same time, enhancing the overall visitor experience and improving the year round quality of life for Manx residents.  The scheme reassures potential customers that they can be guaranteed a good quality experience whenever they see the ‘Quality Assured’ sign displayed outside the premises.

‘Good quality food and drink and customer service are key ingredients for both visitors and locals alike and I would encourage anyone wishing to improve their profile to contact Isle of Man Tourism to become a member of this worthwhile scheme.’
